Denmark is ranked the Best Country for Women in 2020 by U.S. News. This perception-based report is composed of 5 metrics including gender equality, income equality and safety. Additionally, Denmark offers a good work-life balance according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with only 2 percent of the population working very long hours. No wonder Denmark is consistently ranked within the top two spots of happiest countries in the world.

PwC’s 2019 Women in Work Index ranked Iceland as the Best Country for Female Workers, which in itself is a huge accolade and why it made our list. Iceland has seen an increase in the female labor force participant rate and a fall in the female unemployment rate as of 2017’s data. If you are looking for a place that works hard on gender equality, Iceland beckons.

Sweden is number 2 on this year’s Best Countries for Women report by U.S. News, and it also holds second place for Best Countries for Female Workers by PwC. Sweden’s high female employment rate could be attributed to its social and feminist friendly government and law against gender discrimination. It is also ranked number 1 on the 2020 Best Countries for Citizenship list by U.S. News. Maybe Sweden is your next home?

It’s no surprise the Netherlands comes in first place on the OECD’s Better Life Index for Work-Life Balance. The Netherlands also enjoys the third spot for U.S. News’ Best Countries for Women 2020 ranking. With lots of canals, bike friendly cities, and beautiful backdrops, it’s definitely the place to be.
